Oprah Winfrey’s “Selma” Movie Open Casting Call in Montgomery, Alabama


MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Paramount Pictures and Selma Productions Inc. will host an open casting call for extras in the upcoming filming of "Selma" from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 10 at the John Abernathy Auditorium.


The production company, which will film scenes in Selma on June 23 through June 26 as well as in Montgomery on June 27, is casting 500 extras for the movies. Candidates must:


Be 17 to 70 years old

Bring valid photo ID

Bring recent photo

Be eligible to work in the U.S.

Be willing to working as a local hire at $64 for eight hours

Be African American or Caucasian

Be able to work 12 to 14 hours in vintage wardrobe

Be available and have means to attend wardrobe fitting in Selma on one of the following days: June 17 through June 20

"Selma" stars David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and it culminates with the historic Selma-to-Montgomery march that eventually led President Lyndon Johnson to sign the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Filming in Selma will take place on the Edmund Pettus Bridge while a scene of King leading civil rights demonstrators down toward the Alabama State Capitol will be filmed on Dexter Avenue in Montgomery.
